Best of Both Worlds

Pittsburgh – a big city with small-town safety, charm, and hospitality – is frequently voted one of the most livable cities in the United States. Diverse and cosmopolitan, Pittsburgh has about 300,000 residents, including over 7,000 international students studying at its universities.

Like to attend major sporting events?
Visit a world-class zoo or amusement park? Chatham University is in a great location, offering students the comforts of a peaceful campus with access to a vibrant city and activities within minutes.

In Pittsburgh, you’ll find a wide range of cultural offerings, such as the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, art museums (including the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Andy Warhol Museum), and many shopping opportunities. The beautiful 640-acre Frick Park is a 15-minute walk from campus and has many trails for hiking and mountain biking. You can explore exciting caves, take hikes in pristine landscapes, and go camping and white water rafting in one of the many nearby state parks. Chatham is a short ride from the Pittsburgh International Airport, which has easy connections to other major U.S. cities and international destinations. All Chatham students receive bus passes that permit easy access to the amenities of the city. You can also rent a bicycle from several nearby locations.

Many of Chatham’s campus buildings (including residence halls) are historic mansions in the upscale Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Shadyside and Squirrel Hill. These small, friendly neighborhoods are located just minutes from the arts and commerce of Pittsburgh.
