Best of Both Worlds

Pittsburgh – a big city with small-town safety, charm, and hospitality – is frequently voted one of the most livable cities in the United States. Diverse and cosmopolitan, Pittsburgh has about 2.5 million residents, including over 7,000 international students studying at its universities.

In Pittsburgh, you’ll find a wide range of cultural offerings, such as the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra, art museums (including the Carnegie Museum of Art and the Andy Warhol Museum), and many shopping opportunities. The beautiful 640-acre Frick Park is a 15-minute walk from campus and has many trails for hiking and mountain biking. Chatham is a short ride from the Pittsburgh International Airport, which has easy connections to other major U.S. cities and international destinations. All Chatham students receive bus passes that permit easy access to the amenities of the city.

Many of Chatham’s campus buildings are historic mansions in the upscale Pittsburgh neighborhoods of Shadyside and Squirrel Hill. These small, friendly neighborhoods are located just minutes from the arts and commerce of Pittsburgh.

Program Description

Students will study in the Chatham University English Language Program. The ELP offers five levels of instruction, from Basic to Advanced. Admitted students will take a placement test during orientation and be placed in the appropriate level of the program. Each term students will take courses full-time (at least 12 credits). The ELP also offers cultural courses and events for students. Students in the Advanced level, may be able to take an academic content class as part of the program

• Completed Application
• Official transcripts from all universities attended
• Submit a copy of your passport
• Bank verification letter showing sufficient funds for at least one year.


Application Deadline

April 1st

Interested students should apply as early as possible to have enough time to get a student visa. Admission to this program does not imply admission to Chatham University.

Housing

Students are not required to live in Chatham University housing, and may decide to live off-campus. Students should notify Chatham University if they wish to apply for Campus Housing at the time of application. Campus housing is not guaranteed, and must be applied for in advance. For Off-campus housing options, the Office of International Affairs can provide lists of local rental agencies.
